THE ACADEMIC ADVISOR AS ENVIRONMENTAL CHANGE AGENT
The author of this article believes that academic advisors, especially directors of advising units, how an excellent opportunity to help students by becoming environmental change agents on their campuses. Here, he reports some of the responses he has received from advisors who have performed this role on their respective campuses – what they did and how they did it.

*J. RICHARD ARNDT has a B.S. in Geology, an Ed.M. in Guidance and Counseling, an M.S. in General Science, and a Ph.D. in Administration and Higher Education with a cognate in Sociology and a specialty in Counseling and Student Personnel Services. He is currently the director of Advising, Orientation, and Testing at California State University, Fresno. In this position, he is responsible for the design, organization, staffing, and management of that department.
